FREE TIBET (2016-18)
This painting represents my entire work, as it involves all the artistic research I have been carrying out for 24 years from an aerial perspective. Colour dynamics and aerial perspective represent that has always been my interest: SPACE. The houses with mostly yellow and red roofs reflect the culture of yellow and red mitred monks. The chaos of the streets is provided by the rock folds of the Larung Valley, giving the freedom of the frantic anarchy of colours. In this painting, I commemorate the miracle, which in reality now only shows a gap-toothed portrait of itself, as the Chinese Government had 4-5,000 monastic dwellings demolished in the valley of Larung Gar. Violence of power manifested here, therefore the painting belongs to my National Land Art series. (Levente Baranyai)

Larung Gar was the largest center of Buddhist monasticism in Tibet, if not the world, until an eight-month program of expulsions and demolitions, which ended in April 2017 after reducing the number of residents to around 5,000 by the chinese government. It had previously been run by Tibetan monks and nuns selected by senior members of the monastery.
